INSIDE DELTA’S CULT CRACKDOWN: Police Arrest 95 Suspects in Four LGAs, Recover Guns and Cult Insignia

The Delta State Police Command has arrested 95 suspected cultists during coordinated security operations across Asaba, Agbor, Ughelli South and Okpe on October 15, 2026, following reports of suspected cult-related gatherings in the state.

The arrests came after Naija Confra reported on the night of October 15 that several suspected cultists had been arrested at an apartment in Asaba during a gathering reportedly linked to the controversial 10:15 cult anniversary celebration.

According to the police, the operations targeted suspected members of the Vikings (DNKI) confraternity and other gatherings allegedly connected to cult activities.

ASABA: 67 SUSPECTS ARRESTED AT HOTEL

In Asaba, police arrested 67 suspects, comprising 55 males and 12 females, at a hotel along Abraka Road, where suspected members of the Vikings (DNKI) group had reportedly gathered to celebrate a cult anniversary.

A search of the premises led to the recovery of two pump-action guns, one locally fabricated cut-to-size gun, 10 live cartridges, five expended cartridges, 11 caps bearing suspected cult insignia and two jackets branded with suspected cult markings.

The discovery of firearms and items allegedly linked to the group has raised further concerns about the security implications of such gatherings.

AGBOR: 15 MORE SUSPECTS ARRESTED

In a separate operation in Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area, police arrested another 15 suspects, comprising 14 males and one female.

Authorities said items suspected to be associated with the Vikings (DNKI) cult group were recovered during the operation.

UGHELLI SOUTH: THREE MEN ARRESTED, FIREARMS RECOVERED

In Jeremy Community, Ughelli South Local Government Area, operatives arrested three men identified as John Pius, 32; Oghene Ochuko, 28; and Akinbule Godstime, 24, during a raid targeting suspected members of the Vikings (DNKI) confraternity.

Police reportedly recovered two locally made pistols, two live cartridges, two expended cartridges, two caps bearing suspected cult insignia and items described as suspected charms.

The arrests form part of the command's wider efforts to disrupt suspected cult activities and prevent related criminal offences across the state.

OKPE: 10 MALE SUSPECTS PICKED UP

At Jeddo Community in Okpe Local Government Area, police arrested another 10 male suspects over alleged involvement in cult-related activities.

The arrests across the four locations bring the total number of suspects taken into custody to 95.

QUESTIONS REMAIN OVER CULT GATHERINGS AND COMMUNITY SECURITY

The coordinated raids highlight continuing concerns about suspected cult activities in parts of Delta State, particularly gatherings allegedly organised under the guise of anniversaries or celebrations.

However, the arrests represent allegations, and the suspects' individual roles must be established through investigation and due legal process.

As investigations continue, attention will be on whether the police can establish the suspects' alleged affiliations, determine the circumstances surrounding the recovered firearms and bring any individuals found culpable before the courts.

Cultism is not a celebration; it is a threat to lives, families and community security.

REJECT CULTISM. SAY NO TO VIOLENCE.
