Victor Osimhen could make a swift return from injury, according to Galatasaray head coach Okan Buruk.
The Nigeria international is currently recuperating from an arm injury sustained during a UEFA Champions League clash against Liverpool last month, which required surgery.
While initial expectations suggested Osimhen would target a return for the high-stakes Intercontinental Derby against Fenerbahçe on April 26, Buruk indicated the striker is progressing faster than anticipated. The 27-year-old has already resumed running drills on the field with physiotherapists.
Buruk noted that while this weekend’s fixture against Kocaelispor will likely come too soon, there is a possibility Osimhen could be included in the squad for the match against Gençlerbirli?i the following week. The coach emphasized that the team might still opt for caution, potentially skipping that fixture to ensure he is fully prepared for the derby against Fenerbahçe.
The update provides a significant boost for Galatasaray, who recently secured a 3-1 victory over Göztepe to move four points clear at the top of the Süper Lig table. With the title race intensifying, the return of their leading striker, who has already netted 12 league goals this season, could prove pivotal in the final stretch of the campaign.
