The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested former Skye Bank Plc chairman, Tunde Ayeni, over an alleged multi-billion-naira fraud.

Mr Ayeni is currently in custody following his arrest on Thursday.

Peoples Gazette learnt that Mr Ayeni is being investigated for allegedly diverting loans from Polaris Bank through 12 companies linked to him.

Sources said the loans, worth about N36 billion and $30 million, were obtained from Polaris Bank Plc through companies linked to Mr Ayeni.

When contacted on the development, Dele Oyewale, spokesperson for the EFCC, confirmed Mr Ayeni’s arrest but did not disclose the details leading to it.

“Yes, Mr Ayeni is in our custody,” Mr Oyewale said.
